Enugu State Tech Hub set to launch software engineering internship program for women – TechEconomy.ng

In line with one of the cardinal goals of the administration headed by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu State, which is to empower the girl child by exposing her to the digital world through knowledge of computer applications and other digital subtleties, Enugu State Technology Center (ESTHub) is set to launch a software engineering internship program for women labeled ‘ADA’, TechEconomy.ng can report.

The internship program, brought together by TechEconomy.ng, is part of the Hub’s platform to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD).

“Truly, the world of technology as we know it has evolved so much that it is no longer new to say that technology has become the order of the day.

“It is of the utmost importance that we prepare the younger generation to be relevant in the ever-changing technological world.

“In commemoration of the celebration of International Women’s Day, we at Enugu State Tech Hub held a pre-launch event which precedes our ADA Software Engineering Internship Project,” confirmed Chidubem Anowor, Director Managing Director/General Manager, Enugu State Tech Hub. in an email to TechEconomy.ng.

Further clarifying the program, Sophia Abubakar, Program Manager – ADA, said that it aims to educate girls and empower women to participate and make credible contributions in the green technology space.

“We believe that technology is at the heart of our future and we hope that with this small step, we can help shape the lives of these young people.

“The event will focus on educating girls and unlocking potentials through a series of Live Tech Lab demonstrations during the event by selecting girls and women in the secondary and tertiary institutions space .

“It will also feature seminars and lectures featuring strong women in the tech space aimed at inspiring students to spark their interest in technology and software engineering,” Abubakar said.
