The description: The College of Information Technology (CIT) has embarked on an ambitious reorganization effort to harness the prevalence of computing and the rise of artificial intelligence to advance scientific and technological innovation, at the benefit of society. Under its new structure, the College will serve as the nexus between IT and IT at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). CIT will build on the strength of its current research programs to create new multidisciplinary research initiatives and partnerships, across and beyond the university campus, essential to its long-term stability and growth. CIT will also expand its education portfolio with new multidisciplinary study programs, including a BSc. in Artificial Intelligence, a BSc. in Data Science, a BSc. in Computational Linguistics, jointly with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, an MSc. in IoT and a Ph.D. in Computing and Computer Science. A suite of online microloans is also planned in emerging fields of study, including IoT, cybercrime law and digital forensics, blockchain, and cloud computing.

About the position:

We are looking for candidates with a strong track record teaching undergraduate programs in programming and technology. Successful candidates should have experience in programming languages ​​such as Java, Python and C++. Applicants are also expected to complement and enhance the current strength of the Computer Science and Software Engineering department. It is desirable that candidates have knowledge in areas such as algorithms, NLP, software engineering, virtualization, operating systems, databases, AI/ML, computer graphics/vision by computer, bioinformatics or others.

Qualifications of the candidate:

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science or closely related fields from a recognized university.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Excellent knowledge of teaching programming languages: Java, C++ and Python
  • Evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Knowledge of software libraries, such as AI/ML, NLP, computer graphics/vision, software engineering and database is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professors from multiple departments and programs.
  • Excellent writing/communication skills
